Jakov je ortodoksni jevrej, student koji pokušava da uskladi svoja religiozna osjećanja sa svojom seksualnom orjentacijom. U tome mu pomaže njegov mentor Andrew koji ga u dugim razgovorima oslobađa te tjeskobe, ali i izaziva posebna osjećanja prema njemu koja se pretvore u istinsku ljubav.  Sa druge strane Andrew je u nekoj prolaznoj vezi sa drskim Charlsom koji nemože da se pomiri da je njegov odnos sa Andrewom osuđen na propast.

Tužna strana ove priče, kojom i počinje ovaj film je da je Andrew koji je poginuo nesretnim slučajem, svu svoju imovinu ostavio Jakovu. Sve u toj kući budi sjećanja kod momka koji je prve istinske ljubavne emocije doživio uz pomoć svog mentora.

Film je sjajno urađen , al će predstavljati problem gledaocima kojima Australijski engleski ne leži najbolje.

 

 

A somber, deeply emotional drama centering on Jacob, a young Jewish student, who owing to his own fears and anxieties, lets slip away his chance at true love with Andrew, one of his former professors. Upon learning of Andrew’s death, Jacob, heir to his estate, struggles to reconcile his grief and regrets. The history between them is revealed piecemeal in flashback. Jacob was a shy but endearing student and understandably smitten with his former mentor. Andrew, while much older, is distinguished and projects an unpretentious worldliness that any man would be drawn to. And that in part fuels Jacob’s insecurities. To him someone like Andrew could do so much better. What can he offer such an amazing man? The scenes are handled with conviction and a delicate sensibility that allows the audience to understand Jacob and feel empathy for him. The film owes much to the fine performances of the leads. ?Rudy Vodanovich demonstrates great range and depth as Jacob. Alexander Campbell as Andrew makes his character very accessible with a strong, low key charisma. There is an effortless chemistry between these 2 actors.

Godinama na policama slažemo poklone, suvenire i sitne male stvarčice koje nas podsjećaju na neke drage osobe ili neke događaje. Vremenom je tih polica sve više, a ljudi ostaju iza nas. Tako bi bar trebalo da bude.
Mislim da je najveća greška vraćati se u prošlost i pokušavati je ponovo oživjeti.
Neke stvari treba da su iza nas i da ih se po dobrom sjećamo. Ponoviti se više neće.

U ovom filmu Toni prevali 10.0000 milja samo da bi se vidio sa svojim bivšim dečkom, iako se ovaj već viđa sa nekim. Kada je došao kod njega doma, čak na Novom Zelandu, na krevetu zatekne plišanog meda koji mu probudi sjećanja.
Treba li meda ostaviti tu đe jeste ili ga ponjeti sa sobom, sobzirom da bivšeg dečka ne možemo povratiti?

Dyed-in-the-wool Londoner Tony (Brian Moore) has travelled over 10,000 miles to rural New Zealand for a holiday with his ex, the man who abandoned him for a life on the other side of the world - Neil (Chris Tempest). While Tony"s hopes of rekindling his relationship with Neil are complicated by the presence of Neil"s new man, Phil (Alan Granville), it"s a faded old teddy bear which will finally decide their fate.

Juče sam napunio kadu, napravio pjenu, skuvao kafu , prenio laptop i sve lijepo namjestio da provedem sat i po vremena u potpunom opuštanju.
Pustim ovaj film , pa gledam, gledam, gledam, gledam i film se završi.
Strašno. Iz početka mi se dopao film, interesantni glumci, zgodni kao nešto se muvaju, piju piće. Jedan sredovječni gay a drugi nestalan, pije. drogira se i ponekad popuši nekome u baru u kojem pjevaju njegove dvije prijateljice.
U filmu se pojavi i Katie,propala pjevačica, prijateljica ovog sredovječnog i zgodnog i pomalo fem lika.
Svi odu u jednu kuću na plažu i sad kao treba da se nešto desi, a ne desi se ništa. Čak su i scene seksa jadne, a kada treba da prikažu golog muškarca to bude tako da ili na flash od 3 mili sekunde prikažu dupe ili do malo ispod pupka.
A bespotrebnih scena u filmu koliko god želiš, bez ikakvog smisla i značenja. Stekao sam utisak da je ovaj režiser jedva čekao da završi ovaj film, pa je snimao kako bilo, samo da je nešto snimljeno pa da se ide kući.

"When Love Comes" as a follow-up? Whatever happened, "When Love Comes" is a major irritation indeed, a film full of posturing rather than real drama, marred by endless scenes that strive for significance but, because there is zilch at the centre, signify absolutely nothing at all. Why does the camera linger on Sally, apparently a hot guitarist, falling down at a gig? Why is she suddenly playing in the nude?

In a story about the need for friendship and love, specifically concerning a once successful singer returning home to her former acquaintances, the only energy is in the editing, which forces the film forward but in an abrupt, choppy manner. No flow, no class, no sense.
