Miles Apart is a short gay movie about two gay men dealing with a parent who resents their homosexual relationship. Miles and Jeffrey are travelling to attend Kathryn's wedding. Kathryn is Jeffrey's sister. Jeffrey is gay and has been in a relationship with Miles. Jeffrey's mother does not approve of their homosexual affair. Miles has reservations about having to stay at Jeffrey's home because of his mother's attitude towards their sexuality. Jeffrey convinces him to come along. They arrive and the mother is already very ignorant of Miles existence. She even asks them not to lock the door while in the room. At the dinner table she asks Miles to pray for the food with an ulterior motive. Miles starts to pray invoking his gay relationship with Jeffrey. The mother stops him and they argue. He goes away upset and Jeffrey goes after him. Miles asks that they leave but Jeffrey pleads with him to stay at least until they attend the wedding. He agrees and on the wedding day the mother treats them no different with the same homophobic discrimination.

Erik is used to living the city life where he can express his sexuality openly. However he’s sent to stay with his grandfather, with a couple of his camp friends tagging along. Erik’s granddad doesn’t seem impressed with his ‘soft’ grandson, and merely look at his friends with bemusement. However as time passes both sides show that by opening up there’s more to both of them than meets the eye. While a little bit silly at times and occasionally needlessly oblique (but then, it is French), it can’t hide the film’s relatively simple but strong central message. There is a slight condescension towards rural people though, that the film unfortunately never really deals with.

Its summer 1974 and all looks rosy, with the Scotland World Cup team, under Billy Bremner's captaincy, in the Finals. After being all over Brazil in their first match, Scotland now has to beat Yugoslavia to get into the knock-out rounds.
But in suburban Glasgow, 13 year old Stephen, is keener on seeing his favorite glam rock band in concert than following the progress of Scotland's World Cup football squad. Meanwhile his football fanatic father Charley isn't about to let "a bunch of nancy boys" turn his son's head away from sporting glory. Stephen's hopes of following his Glam Rock idols appears to be dashed after his father catches him in his older sister Donna's gold platform boots and full glam make-up. Charley meanwhile is struggling to come to terms with the loss of his wife (and mother to his two teenage children) and when Stephen tells him he thinks his mother would have let him go to the concert, Charley explodes. With nothing now left to lose, Stephen and Donna go to see Slade in concert. Only on their return do they start to worry about the consequences, yet when they arrive back it is to a much chastened and reflective Charley. The film ends with the glimmerings of a new understanding between the members of the family where a father has to come to terms with his son and daughter growingup and facing up to their need for freedom to be what they themselves want to be.

Kako nastaju prijateljstva?
Mislim da je za to potrebno da se uklopi mnogo stvari, slična interesovanja, medjusobno povjerenje, poznavanje i tolerancija.
Još ako u sve to iskljucimo seksualnu privlacnost eto predpostavke za iskrena i dobra prijateljstva. Na žalost mnogi pederi griješe i ne vide dalje od ogledala. Upoznavaju se i druže isključivo sa drugim pederima, a ostale prihvataju samo iz ličnog interesa. Ako imaju str8 prijatelja to je obično neko iz djetinjstva ili škole, a i tada je neiskreno jer je obučeno u laži i tajnama.
Mnogi mi se žale da se osjećaju prazno i iskorišćeno. Iz dana u dan traže neko prijateljstvo i nadu da će se to pretvoriti u neku romasu, a svaku novu osobu koju upoznaju prvo odvuku u krevet!
Jedan mi je rekao da se ne može družiti sa nekim ko mu se ne sviđa fizički.
Drugi da su mu najbolji prijatelji gejevi ali isključivo oni sa kojima ne dijeli isti ukus po pitanju muškaraca. I tako redom, pogubljeni u svom pederskom svjetu izgube pojam o ljudima koji ih okružuju. Svakome nalaze manu i neku lošu karakteristiku.
Na kraju veći dio okruženja naprosto kaže: "Ma to je obična pederčina" pri tome ne misleći na seksualnu orjentaciju!
Ovaj film nam govori o jednom lijepom prijateljstvu koje se svakako ne zasniva na pederskim predpostavkama.
There is very little of anything original in Cowboys & Angels, but it is still a nice film nonetheless. The unique aspect of this Irish film is that there is a friendship between a straight man and a gay man, and there is no fear or apprehension from the straight guy about his roommate's sexuality. If anything, Shane (Michael Legge, Angela's Ashes, Whatever Happened to Harold Smith?) is in awe of his roommate Vincent (Alan Leech, The Escapist). Vincent has lots of cool friends, gets into all the cool clubs, and looks like he's always having fun. Shane, on the other hand, dresses preppy/boring, has few friends, and doesn't do much of anything. The other weird thing is that Legge and Leech look a lot like Frodo and Sam from The Lord of the Rings. Who knew that Sam was gay?
Anyway, Shane is looking for a flat closer to the city, where he works in a boring desk job. All the good places are taken, and he spots a two-bedroom the same time that Vincent does. They agree to room together, and things are initially pretty chilly because the two are so different. Vincent is in school to be a fashion designer, and picks up men for one-night stands. Shane just sits at home, bored. It turns out the two went to school together a long time ago, and as they spend more time together, they begin to open up. Shane has a huge crush on Gemma (Amy Shiels, Veronica Guerin, The Abduction Club), Vincent's good friend. Shane finally allows Vincent to have his way with him...and give him a makeover. Shane now looks like he's a fun guy, and people are taking notice. Like every teen movie in America, the newfound fame begins to change Shane. He becomes more arrogant and self-centered, caring less for the people around him and more for himself. Writer/director David Gleeson (Hunted, Feels Like Home) adds in a pretty arbitrary plot about Shane's neighbor Keith (David Murray, King Arthur, Veronica Guerin). Keith is a drug dealer, and preys on Shane's need for money to enlist his help in selling drugs. The only reason this ridiculous premise sounds plausibe is that Gleeson uses a gentle touch in writing his characters.
Legge and Leech give two very natural performances. They look and feel very comfortable in their characters, and Gleeson's decision to omit the homophobia aspect that every other film would include is a really nice touch. It allows him to delve further into the friendship between these two guys, and he spends enough time with the characters to make the friendship believable. Shane basically lost his childhood. He had to work quickly after high school to support his family. He doesn't have a real concept of how to have fun, or what his dreams were. Vincent is the person who changes all of this. There's nothing profound going on here, it's just a nice small movie. - Haro Online-

Podsjetila me na moga prijatelja R. sa kojim sam proveo nekoliko lijepih godina. Lijep i zgodan plijenio je srca mnogih žena koje bi me razočarane što ih neće mrzile još više. Al jebi ga, volio je mene. Na žalost i naša bajka se završila, ali o tome nekom drugom prilikom.
Danas je oženjen, ima dvoje đece kao i ja i uživa u sretnom braku. Naravno u svom kalendaru i dalje ima svoj gay dan kada ode na porciju dobrog kurca ili u nedostatku istog dobre muške guze.

Shot mostly in split split screen we see the business man on the lower left the messenger on the lower right. Above each man is a screen with images from their minds.
One must pay attention in order to follow all of the activity at once and this would probably never work for a longer film but here the technique is well used to maintain interest, add a little humor and at times even foreshadow the plot.

As James sincerely exclaims, Parker has been his “bro-jangles” since forever. The two have kept a life-long bond despite their obvious differences. Now in his early twenties, Parker has been struggling with a secret he has kept for years.

'Saudade - Sehnsucht' (THE LONGING) is a film by writer/director Jürgen Brüning who seems to have taken a vacation from Germany to Brazil with some friends and decided to make a movie as a means of entertainment. This film is less about characters and story development than it is about Brazilian beaches, snorkeling, fish butchering, second-rate pop music, and food.
Ostensibly we find three friends who've had a rock band in Germany on vacation in Brazil: Cyrus (Tarik Qazi) is interested in finding his Brazilian mother; Tim (Daniel Bätscher) remains determined to explore a new music sound; Erik (eye candy hunk Hendrik Scheider) wants to find love. The three finance their excursion by making daily film clips of body contact to use on the internet dating business. Their housekeepers Maria (Maria Lucia da Silva Ludwig) and Angela (Marilza da Cruz Pinto Gregiao) feed their interests as well as their appetites. Most of their time is spent in clubs and at the beaches, pursuing little but opportunism. Erik has a tryst on the sand with a Brazilian man one night that ends in a death that sours his desire. When another attractive Brazilian lad Miguel (Aldri Anunciaçao) catches Erik's eye the two begin a struggle for a relationship, but Erik's previous encounter colors his ability to find happiness.
The actors are all attractive and given the fact that they have little to do but look alluring manage to make the film tolerable. But in the end the movie feels too self indulgent to satisfy any audience member. It is a piece of fluff disguised as a soap opera. Grady Harp

Following the concept of seeing where a 10 peso note passes, this short takes a wild journey showing bits and pieces of the lives of various characters who come in contact with the bill in question. This short is well filmed and edited, giving enough time with each character and not making one feel rushed through the film especially with its short duration. You are given just enough of a taste for each character before you're off to another, often leaving you wanting to know more about the characters that are being dropped at the wayside. From the gay for pay hustler, to the cop, to the school child, to the maid, each character is given a full story and reality that lasts only as long as they have the 10 pesos. Worth watching.

Pričao mi je kako je raskinuo sa momkom koji ga je na neki način varao! Čovijek sa kojim je živio i dijelio sve silne emocije, iskrenost i povjerenje krio je od njega svoju ovisnost o cruisingu! Razočarenje koje je moj prijatelj doživio je pojačano osjećajem da ima stvari koje nisu podijelili jedan sa drugim! Jednom izdato povjerenje se nikada više nemože nadomjestiti. Može se pokušati ponovo izgraditi ali nije mi poznato da je neko to i uspio!
Izraz ovisnost o cruisingu sam smislio jer ne poznajem terminologiju za tu pojavu. Imao sam prilike da vidim ljude koji se kriju po mračnim ćoškovima i ko sove gledaju razne izgubljene duše koje po parkovima traže seks ili neko kratkotrajno uzbuđenje koje će zaboraviti prvim izlaskom sunca. Poneki lutaju po zaraznim WC-ima i underground mjestima pa ko neki zombiji vrebaju jedni druge nebi li ih uhvatili za onu stvar! Naravno nakon pražnjenja bježe na svjetlo dana i ponovo postaju ljudi! Voajeri se zadovolje gledanjem tog nazovimo seksualnog čina u nekom žbunju, te nakon kratke masturbacije napuštaju mjesto zločina i bježe pod okrilje porodice ili sigurnog doma! Ovaj film se ne bavi cruisingom kao pojavom među pederima.
Izdaja, osjećaj nemoći i gubitka se protežu kroz ovaj kratki film. Nije ni svaki gubitak uzrok patnje i bola! Ovaj prelijepi kratki film me je podsjetio na smrt mog oca. Kada je umro na trenutak sam osjetio olakšanje. Kao da mi je neko skinuo teret sa srca. Njegova smrt je meni značila da neće doživjeti razočarenje i patnju što mu sin nije ispunio očekivanja i želju da kroz unuče vidi produženje loze.
This emotive short film takes place during a few seconds on the same night in the same London nightclub as Two Minutes After Midnight, but thematically it's much more grounded in the human heart as a man (Power) watches his boyfriend snogging a stranger. Handel's aria 'Sherza Infida' takes over the soundtrack as we spiral through this young man's mind, focussing on his relationship with his partner as well as his father. There's no dialog, just thoughts and feelings--and it's extremely effective, especially since, again, Rea shoots it with the highest production values available. It looks terrific! And it really gets under the skin emotionally.

Zatim sam odgledao kako neki debili odlaze u neku kuću velikog brata, kvazipoznate ličnosti koje su se počele baviti poljoprivredom na nekoj reality show Farmi i pogledao likove koji sebe smatraju talentima. Dovoljno da zaboravim na sve predhodne jadne i patetične Beogradske događaje.
Britanska serija Cambridge Spies je predstavila pravo osvježenje nakon odgledanih nabrojanih gluposti. Spočetka serije bilo mi je lijepo vidjeti ta četiri vedra mladića prepunih ideala i želja da u životu učine nešto što će promijeniti svijet. Njihovi ideali nastali na strogom kembridždskom univerzitetu u vrijeme pojave nacizma u evropi, poklopili su se sa jačanjem komunističkih ideala u istočnoj evropi. Priča napisana po istinitom događaju koji je potresao Veliko Kraljevsko ostrvo.
Glani junaci ove priče unajmljeni su kao špijuni za Sovjetski savez. Sa ljubavlju prema komunizmu i puni ideala, talentom za špijunažu i mržnjom prema Hitleru i fašizmu, četvorka započinje 20-godišnju karijeru velikih prijevara i laži.
Guy Burgess: nadaren i nepokolebljiv, ovisan o seksu i scotchu. Zaposlen u The Timesu, BBC-u i MI5, što mu je pomoglo u pristupu tajnim podacima o nacionalnoj sigurnosti. Anthony Blunt: zabavan, duhovit i izuzetno lukav, u vezi je s najvećim tajnama kraljevske obitelji. Kim Philby: savršen špijun. Postaje vrhovni vođa jedinice u MI6, "sprečavajući ljude slične njemu da postanu slični njemu." Donald Maclean: dvostruki agent s podvojenom ličnosti; simpatičan i duhovit, a zatim divlji i opasan.
Fascinantni likovi, bistrog uma neće ni jednog gledaoca ostaviti ravnodušnim. Guy Burges, neskriveni homoseksualac, na jedan neobičan način na otkriva laž i hipokriziju visokog plemićkog društva koje mu otvoreno saopštava da ga smatraju sebi ravnim, članom kluba, koje je sposobno da toleriše njegove ispade i greške, pa čak i one koje će ga pratiti doživotno, misleći pri tom na njegovu seksualnu orjentaciju. Ništa neobično za današnje vrijeme, ali radi se o 1934. godini kada je homoseksualnost u Engleskoj bila kažnjavana čak i smrtnim presudama.
Ostavio me je zatečenim dok je jednom prijatelju pričao o smrti njegovog oca: Nešto sam dobio smrću moga oca, dobio sam slobodu, bila je to velika tuga, ali i snažan osjećaj slobode. Zvuču smješno, ali smrt roditelja može biti početak,posebno ako si ga volio. Sličan osjećaj sam i ja imao kada mi je umro otac, jer sam za njegova života bio ono što je očekivao od mene, a smrt je izbrisala svaku šansu da ga eventualno razočaram. A majka , ona uvijek nekako sve osjeća i zna, al nikada ne pita niti prebacuje, naprosto uvjek je na mojoj strani, ma šta ja uradio!
Ova serija je urađena u četiri epizode, možda je malo podugačka, ali već sada sam siguran da ću je sa uživanjem odgledati ostala tri nastavka.
Spy Story for Sunday Night, 6 July 2003 Author: Philby-3 from Sydney, Australia
This is a lightly fictionalised account of how four tewwibly well brought up English boys betrayed their country to the Soviet Union. Philby's father had been a distinguished diplomat and Arabist and McLean's a cabinet minister. All had public school educations and had been undergraduates at the same Cambridge college. They set off into promising careers in the foreign office and security services and were Soviet agents from the start. Their great coup was to give the Soviets enough details about the atomic bomb to speed up their program to build one by a couple of years, but it was at the expense of blowing McLean and Burgess's cover (they escaped to Moscow in 1951), and Philby being fired from MI6. He joined them in Moscow in 1963. Blunt, by now the Keeper of the Queen's Pictures was then interrogated; he confessed, and was let go.
It's one of the really great spy stories of the 20th century. This version concentrates on the personal dynamics. The amount of contact the spies had with each other after Cambridge seems to be much exaggerated (pretty bad security), but gives us the picture of the gang of four against the Establishment. The women are interesting too. Philby was a ladies' man to whom Donald McLean's American wife Melinda (Anne-Louise Plowman) was attracted. They later lived together in Moscow. Blunt and Burgess were both gay, but friends rather than lovers. The Establishment, in the person of Lord Halifax (James Fox), Ambassador to Washington, found it difficult to believe that 'people like us' could do such things and started looking for the atomic spy in the embassy kitchens. One or two western counter-intelligence operatives including the CIA's formidable James Jesus Angleton nearly nabbed them, but with Philby tipping them off (and duchessing Angleton), Burgess and McLean made it safely to Moscow. With four hours to play with all the characters are richly drawn. Tom Hollander's Guy Burgess is a drunken dirty little sod who somehow manages to be witty and charming as well. It was great cover for a spy. As Donald McLean, Rupert Penry-Jones is the Golden Boy who feels himself unworthy, and sees communism as the way to redemption. Toby Stephens as Kim Philby gives us the cleverness, the deviousness and the angst as well, especially in the Spanish episode.(I'm afraid us Philbys are a devious lot, but we bleed, we bleed). Samuel West's Blunt has the occasional hint of emotion, but basically is a cold fish. Art, it seems is his life. He does get on tewwibly well with the Queen.
Seventy years on, it's not so much why they did it, but why they kept it up that mystifies. Given their location close to the heart of British Intelligence and hence knowing as much as anybody outside about what really went on the Soviet Union, it's extraordinary that Philby and McLean in particular continued on right up to 1951 (Blunt was more or less inactive after 1945). It is suggested here that Ms McLean did try to get her husband to give up spying but there's no real explanation as to why he persisted. Perhaps he still believed. Anyway, truth or fiction is hardly the point here - Sunday night is not for history lessons. This is a familiar tale well told, visually splendid and not too taxing. The real story, I suspect, is far too complex for even the most adroit (or left) TV producer. An earlier TV account,"Philby Burgess and McLean" (1977) is also worth watching, if you can find it.
