Jeste li kada bili na Thailandu? Ako jeste primjetili ste da su svi ljudi nasmijani, na samo iz kurtoazije nego stvarno, iskreno nasmijani. Ne znam zašto je to tako, možda zbog religije ili fantastične prirode, bog ima je podario da žive u zaista impresivnom okruženju. Priroda se pobrinula da Thailand izgleda kao raj na zemlji.U takvom okruženju zaista je teško biti ne nasmijan!

Sa druge strane, u tu zemlju hrle milioni Američkih i evropskih turista koji uživaju u meni neshvaćenoj prostituciji. Zaista toliko kontrasta za jednu zemlju u kojoj nećete vjerovati nema ni obične nudističke plaže.
I pored svega toga tradicija je jaka na Thailandu. Tajlanđani imaju izgrađen sebi svojstven pogled na svjet i odnose medju ljudima i mišljenja su da je ljubav najjača pokretačka snaga čovjeka. I prema svemu što ih okružuje pružaju srce i ljubav!
Teško mi je to objasniti nekom ko nije bio tamo, ali na Thailandu je nezamislivo naići na ulicu u kojoj nema cvijeća i bilja prema kojemu se ljudi odnose kao najrođenijem biću!

Ovaj film je po mom ukusu predugačka romansa dvojice tinejdžera koji su svoju prvu ljubav podjelili jedan sa drugim! Lijepo osmišljena, romantična muzika i nekako nedorečen kraj! Ako baš imate slobodno 2,30 sata vremena i volite romantične priče pogledajte ovaj film!
Film je više po mjeri istočnjačkih tinejdžera, jer se neki elementi filma ne mogu uklopiti u zapadnjački način razmišljanja. Na primjer, potpuno je nerazumljivo da žena dovede djevojku u kuću i predstavi je svom od alkohola izgubljenom mužu kao njihovu davno nestalu ćerku. Ili način na koji tinejdžeri "prihvataju" homoseksualnost. Naprosto kažu šteta, ali to je tako i tu se ništa ne može. Nema dalje osude i proganjanja toga.
Karakteristično za Istočnjačke narode. Svidjelo im se nešto ili ne, to naprosto prihvataju kao činjenicu bogom datu! I nema tu šta da se komenrtariše.
Osim naravno kada se radi o njihovim najbližima, treba im podosta vremena da se uvjere da neke stvari ne mogu promjeniti!

Homosexual romance and family grief are entangled to mildly appealing effect in the sprawling yuletide meller "The Love of Siam." Courting gay auds and straight friends, progressive Thai drama garnered impressive B.O. in pre-Christmas weeks, making it a huge local success despite its budgetary and narrative limitations. Outside Thailand, the film may surface on the gay fest circuit and, with the right environment, in young-adult sidebars.

After a 20-minute prologue introducing prepubescent versions of its youthful protags, yarn moves to present-day Bangkok, where teenage Mew (Witwisit Hiranyawongkul) is lead singer and songwriter for a Thai boyband called August. On the cusp of great success, Mew re-encounters long-lost buddy Tong (Mario Maurer).

While both are having difficulty relating to their adoring girlfriends (or g.f. wannabes), both lads inwardly have no doubt about their feelings for each other. Much of pic's success in Thailand was attributed to its gay theme, and the working out of true love between the two boys, despite societal and familial pressures, takes up a substantial amount of the running time.

Given equal emphasis, however, is the long-ago disappearance of Tong's older sister Tang (Chemarn Boonyasak), depicted in the pic's prologue, and its devastating toll on Tong's family, especially his now-alcoholic father Korn (Songsit Roongnophakunsri). Compounding the family's collective grief are Korn's periodic, booze-inspired delusions about his daughter's imminent return home.

While attending one of August's recording sessions, Tong meets the band's personal assistant June (also Chemarn Boonyasak). Since June is a dead ringer for his missing sister, Tong decides to hire her to impersonate his deceased sister and soothe his drunken father's troubled soul. Western auds will have some trouble accepting that mom goes for the plan (in a comedy, maybe), and the narrative briefly flirts with the idea that supernatural elements may be at work before adhering strictly to meller conventions.

Writer-helmer Matthew Chookiat Sakveerakul ("13 Beloved") also co-edited and even composed some of the boy-band songs, so his emotional engagement with the material is unquestionable. However, his passion transcends his directing ability, and pic could benefit from a trim for Western auds. Perfs, particularly by youthful amateur thesps, could have used a firmer hand.

Art direction is pro, but the sound is unfortunately reminiscent of the unfiltered recording style favored by Southeast's Asia's digital revolution. In contrast, the songs are mixed par excellence.

Title refers to the fact that much of pic's teen-romance action transpires around the Siam Square shopping district of contempo Bangkok.

Ovo je zaista zapanjujući film , koji sam odgledao u dahu i nakon kojega sam se osijećao kao nakon pročitane dobre knjige! Vrhunska izvedba, gluma, vizuelni efekti, fotografija i iznad svega priča, bazirana na istinitom događaju.
Film nam priča o slavnom tajlandskom kickbokseru Nong Toomu, travestitu kojemu je sudbina predodredila da se bori za opstanak na najmuškiji mogući način prije nego iz sebe oslobodi ženu.
Film mi je pomogao da shvatim narav travestita kojih sam se zbog nepoznavanja na neki način gnušao i odbacivao.
Nong Toom je rođen u jednoj siromašnoj nomadskoj porodici na Thailandu. Odmalena, prinuđen da radi i bori se za opstanak, je otkrivao svoju drugu stranu ličnosti koja je njegovim sazrevanjem postajala sve jača i izraženija.
Nong Toom je sebe oduvijek smatrao ženom, koja je greškom prirode zarobljena u tijelu muškarca. I te kakvog muškarca ! Snažnog , virtuoznog, zgodnog i privlačnog u svakom pogledu.

Siromaštvo u kojem je odrastao ga je natijeralo da nauči da se bori u kickboksu, nacionalnim sportom na Tajlandu (Muay Thai - Thai kickboxing)
Duboko religiozan, kontrast u njegovom tijelu je shvatao kao svoju karmu govoreći : " U predhodnom životu sam činio loše stvari, zato u ovom moram da patim."
Kada ga je učitelj pitao zašto želiš da boksuješ odgovorio je :" Da bih mogao da zaradim novac i kupim povrće za moju majku!"
Uporno trenirajući kickbox, dok se krijući šminkao i u usamljenim trenucima dozvoljavajući sebi da pokaže svoju žensku stranu, želio je samo jedno, da pomogne roditeljima i da zaradi dovoljno novca da postane žena.
Zaista su dirljive scene u kojima se vidi njegov očaj kada mora da se tuče ili trpi poniženja zbog svojeg ponašanja koje kako su godine prolazile nije mogao da sakriva.
Svoje protivnike koje bi nokautirao u ringu bi poljubio sa mislima " žao mi je što sam te povrijedio, ali u ringu nema drugog izbora.!"
Na vrhuncu slave kada je postao nacionalni prvak u kickboxu, počeo je da uzima ženske hormone koji sumu oduzimali snagu i muškost, prijeko potrebnu za taj surovi sport. Inače na Thauilandu je zabranjeno ženama da se bave tim sportom.
Danas je Nong Toom ( Parinaya Charoemphol ) žena, glumica koja živi u Bangkoku. Ostao je poznati ritual na ringu koji je kao kickboxer izvodio prije svake borbe najljepšeg tajlandskog borca u ringu!

Beautiful Boxer is a 2003 Thai biographical-drama-sports film by Singapore-based director Ekachai Uekrongtham. It tells the life story of Nong Thoom, a famous kathoey (male-to-female transgendered person), Muay Thai fighter, actress and model. She was portrayed by male kickboxer Asanee Suwan.



Based on the true story of Thailand's famed transgender kickboxer, Beautiful Boxer is a poignant action drama that punches straight into the heart and mind of a boy who fights like a man so he can become a woman.



Believing he's a girl trapped in a boy's body since childhood, Parinya Charoenphol (affectionately known as Nong Toom in Thailand) sets out to master the most masculine and lethal sport of Muay Thai (Thai boxing) to earn a living and to achieve his ultimate goal of total femininity. Touching, funny and packed with breathtaking Thai kickboxing sequences, Beautiful Boxer traces Nong Toom's childhood, teenage life as a traveling monk and grueling days in boxing camps. Shot in 9 provinces across Thailand and in Tokyo, the film also features a series of explosive matches where Nong Toom knocks out most of his opponents in Thailand and Japan.

Directed and produced by Ekachai Uekrongtham, the film stars Asanee Suwan, a real-life kickboxing champ as Nong Toom. The role earned him the 2004 Supannahongsa Award (Thailand's equivalent to the Oscar) for Best Actor. Beautiful Boxer also features compelling performances by Thailand's award-winning actor Sorapong Chatree in the role of Nong Toom's coach and former Miss Thailand
Orn-Anong Panyawong as Nong Toom's mother.

Kyoko Inoue, one of Japan's top female wrestlers plays herself in the film. She has fought with Nong Toom in real life back in 1988. That historical match was reenacted for the film in a dramatic sequence shot at Toyko Dome. Nearly all of Nong Toom's opponents in the film are also professional kickboxers in real life.

Beautiful Boxer has been officially selected for the Panorama Section of the 2004 Berlin International Film Festival. It’s the only Thai film in the 2004 Panorama.
He is now a she. In real life, Nong Toom's dream has come true after undergoing a sex-change operation in 1999. Now a model and actress based in Bangkok, Nong Toom can no longer fight in the ring. Women are not allowed in professional boxing rings for men in Thailand.

Born into a poor family of nomads, Nong Toom spent his childhood traveling around the country with his family before settling down in Chiangmai province in the Northern part of Thailand. Prior to his big match in Bangkok in February 1998, he'd won 20 out of 22 matches in many provinces. He's feared by his opponents for his trademark swooping kicks, flying elbows and stinging uppercuts. His deadly prowess in the ring made it hard for the public to understand his ambition of becoming a woman.

Undoubtedly one of Thailand's best known kickboxers, Nong Toom is admired by many for his courage and despised by others who accused him of tarnishing the masculine image of Thai kickboxing.

Ova komedija je zasnovana na istinitoj priči o odbojkaškoj ekipi iz sjevernotajandskog grada Lampanga, koja je 1996. godine osvojila nacionalno odbojkaško prvenstvo za muškarce. Kuriozitet je da je većina ekipe sastavljena od homoseksualaca i trevestita.

The Iron Ladies (Thai: Satree lek) is a Thai comedy film from the year 2000. The movie follows the true events of a men's volleyball team, comprised mainly of transvestites, transsexuals and homosexuals. The movie was directed by Youngyooth Thongkonthun and written by Visuttchai Boonyakarnjawa and Jira Maligool.

A hit in Thailand as well as the international film festival circuit, the film has been nominated 12 times and won 10 awards, including the Thailand National Film Association Awards, Toronto International Film Festival and the reader award of german LGBT magazine Siegessäule at the Berlin International Film Festival. It also played at the Pusan International Film Festival, the San Francisco Asian American Film Festival, the Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, the Seattle International Film Festival and the San Francisco International Lesbian and Gay Film Festival.

In 2003, the combined sequel and prequel called Satree lek 2 [1] was released. The film is based upon how the characters of The Iron Ladies met, and how they would later reunite for another vollyball tournament.


The film is set in 1996, when the real team competed and won the national championships in Thailand. The two main characters, Mon and Jung, play two gay transvestites, who had been constantly overlooked by volleyball coaches because of their appearance. However, when a local team changes coaches, the new coach holds tryouts for a new team. When Mon and Jung are selected, most of the old players resign, leaving the new coach, Coach Bee, in a sticky predicament.

Mon and Jung are then forced to enlist the help of other gay and transsexual friends who they used to play volleyball with in university. These new players include Wit, who hasn't told his fiance he is gay, Pia, a transexual dancer and Nong, a gay army officer. When the competition begins, all but one player in the team are gay or transsexual.

Because of their appearance on court, many of the match officials intend to ban the team, soon dubbed "The Iron Ladies", from the tournament. However, seeing how much the team is liked by the crowd soon changes many of their opinions.

At the end credits of the film, the real "Iron Ladies" are shown as they were at the time of making the film.

Danas sam pogledao ovaj film koji me je na neki način potresao. U moru melodramatičnih filmova ovo je za mene nešto sasvim drugačije.
Film sa mnogo duše i potresnim krajem.

Maek, je mladić, ubica koji dobije zadatak od Mafije da otme i ubije mladog Ihta. Međutim u Meak pred šefovima odbije da to uradi i u pucnjavi koja zbog toga nastane biva ranjen. Zajedno sa Ihtom onako ranjen bježi. Onako ranjenog Iht ga odvede kući i njeguje ga kako bi mu se zaliječila rana.
Pri svemu tome zaljubljuju se jedan u drugog. Meak navikao na ubistva i nasilje, nemože sebi dopustiti ni da pokaže osijećaje ni da se zaljubi, posebno ne u muškarca. Nakon jedne noći u kojoj su sebi dopustili da strast nadvlada razum, zbunjeni Meak otjera Ihta od sebe. Iht se stalno vraća, moleći meaka da ga razumije, da ga voli i da mu nedostaje.
Meak zna da ih mafija neće ostaviti na miru. Osim toga kući ima majku i brata koji boluju od AIDS-a.

Film je prožet prelijepom muzikom koja ublažava surovost siromaštva u podnožju velelepnih zgrada Bangkoka.
Sjajna gluma, odličan scenario i dobra muzika učiniće da vas ovaj film prilijepi za ekran.

Nakon što je film završio ostao sam mislima o tome kako ne možemo sami odrediti trenutak ni osobu koja će nam osvojiti srce.

Bangkok Love Story (Thai: Puen, literally "friend") is a 2007 Thai film written and directed by Poj Arnon. A gay romantic crime action drama, it is the story of a man who falls in love with a gunman who is assigned to kill him.

A loner gunman named Mhek is assigned to kidnap a police informant named It, but Mhek has a change of heart when he is ordered to kill It. In a gunbattle with his employers, Mhek is wounded, but It grabs Mhek's gun and returns fire. The two men then escape on Mhek's motorcycle. At Mhek's rooftop hide-out, It tends to Mhek's wound and finds himself attracted to Mhek. While giving Mhek a bath one day, It initiates sexual intercourse with the hitman. Conflicted, Mhek demands that It leave him alone. It returns home to his fiancee, Sai, but is no longer interested in continuing a relationship with her. It spends his days pining over Mhek, and tracks down Mhek's brother, Mhok, and their mother. Mhok is HIV positive, as the result of sexual abuse by his and Mhek's stepfather, and their mother is dying of AIDS.

Mhek's dream is to take his mother and brother away from Bangkok to the mountains of Mae Hong Son Province. But after Mhek's mother witnesses Mhek and It kissing each other, she commits suicide by hanging herself. It's fiancee, Sai, also witnesses the kissing by Mhek and It, and terminates their marriage plans. Meanwhile, Mhek's former employers are gunning for him. It decides to take matters into his own hands, and goes to Mhek's bosses' hide-out and shoots them both. Mhek, meanwhile, is planning to meet his brother at the railway station to leave Bangkok for good. But before he can board the train, he is apprehended by the police and sent to prison.

Years pass by. Mhok dies of AIDS at a hospice in northern Thailand. It visits Mhek in prison and reveals that he was left blind in the final gunbattle with Mhek's bosses. Eventually, Mhek is released from prison, and It meets him. But before the two men can leave to start their life together, Mhek is gunned down by an assassin. It eventually gets his sight back, and the first thing he does is to look at his mobile phone, which has a picture of Mhek on it that he took many years before.
