A danas?

Posebno tu ubrajam Brazil, Argentinu i Meksiko.

Naravno niko nije znao šta smo radili u 4 zida i to u našem slučaju nije bilo ni bitno.

The other family

la_otra_familia_pianoTHE OTHER FAMILY is the story of Hendrix (Bruno Loza), a 7-year-orld child that’s been abandoned by his crack-addict mother Nina (Nailea Norvind). Ivana (Ana Serradilla), her best friend rescues Bruno,
however, she can’t take care of him because of an ongoing trip to Houston with her life partner (Ana Soler), to analyze the possibility of having an in vitro fertilization. Jean Paul (Jorge Salinas) and Chema (Luis Roberto Guzmán), an adult, stable, gay couple, and friends of Ivana, were given the task of taking
care of Hendriz while his mother spends some time in rehab. Patrick (Andrés Almeida), Nina’s lover and dealer is bien chased by Caimán (Mario Zaragoza), a drug warlord, because of a huge debt. In an
la-otra-familia1attempt to get the money he tries to sell Hendrix to a young, straight couple (Dominika Paleta y Juan Rios) who just lost a baby. While Nina tries to escape rehab in search of her son, Hendrix slowly
adapts to his new lik with Jean Paul and Chema. Patrick’s running out of time and urges Nina to find her misplaced son.

What’s best for Hendrix? Return to his crack-addict? Live with a homosexual couple that will offer him a better life quality? To be sold in an illegal fashion to a straight couple? or Surrender to the authorities and be sent to an foster house?

vlcsnap2011081015h14m06Jean Paul and Chema are a gay couple that has been together for ten years. One can see their relationship is solid, proved to be real, as they decide to get married. In a macho dominated society the union between two men is a rarity that came to be legal only recently. It is clear these two men are in love and have decided to make a commitment that speaks loudly than words.
When Nina, a drug addict is sent to prison, her young son, Hendrix, is left to fend for himself. A friend, Ivana, a lesbian in a serious relationship with Gloria, decides to bring the boy to her friends Jean Paul and Chema. The men, uneasy at first, take a liking to the little boy whose innocence captures their hearts. After the initial misgivings, the couple end up loving Hendrix. Unfortunately, Nina wants her son back. Because of her connection with unsavory characters, the plight of the boy takes center stage for criminals that want to sell the boy to a wealthy couple. Jean Paul, and especially Chema, will fight to stand by the boy.
otra-familia-1Directed by Gustavo Loza with sure hand, this Mexican entry surprises because of the way the subject matter is treated with honesty in dealing with the issue. Mr. Loza, who also wrote the screenplay, presents us with a drama that in other hands might have degenerated into a sensational account of the two gay couples that are being examined. That, and the fate of the boy, with an uncertain future, is examined with a clarity that speaks volumes as to the intentions of the creator of the film.
There are solid appearances by Jorge Salinas and Luis Guzman as Jean Paul and Chema. The actors do a solid job in the way they approached their roles to make them real. Young Bruno Loza, whom one suspects is the son of the director, is perfectly sweet, in a surprising performance. Ana Serradilla, Ana Soler, Nailea Norvind and the great Carmen Salinas contribute to the over all excellence of the film.

Description:

Quemar las naves se nemože svrstati u jeftine filmska ostvarenja, dobra gluma puna emocija, snažna muzika, izuzetna fotografija i lijepa priča će vas zasigurno prikovati uz ekran.

VARIETY.COM
By ROBERT KOEHLER
Image Hosted by ImageShack.usA son, a daughter and their dying mother are caught between desire, death and yearnings for the future in the remarkably pungent "Burn the Bridges." Theater-trained helmer and co-writer Francisco Franco makes the leap into features with striking confidence, coming up with one of the few superior dramas in recent Mexican filmmaking. Top prizes nabbed at Morelia fest set up the pic for a prestigious local profile, which could translate into fair B.O. on its April 4 release, while global fest interest should be fast and furious.
Unlike several recent family-based Mexican films which took risks with high-wire strategies (from the lassitude of "Turtle Family" to the hyper-strained absurdities of "Bad Habits"), "Burn the Bridges" passes every dramatic test it sets up, pulling off fine surprises when things could have gone terribly south.
[qln_010[4].jpg] Siblings Helena (Irene Azuela) and Sebastian (Angel Onesimo Nevarez) develop the hots for each other while caring for their dying, cancer-ridden mom, former pop singer Eugenia (Claudette Maille). Add in the family's snooping maid Chaya (Aida Lopez); the awkward homoerotic impulses Sebastian feels for the new boy at school, Juan (Bernardo Benitez); and the familiar tropes of a sprawling bourgeois manse on the edge of decay and the oppressive atmosphere of Sebastian's Catholic-run school, and the film would seem awash in cliches and narrative minefields.
Instead, Franco and screenwriter Maria Renee Prudencio find a groove early on that keeps the film hopping with the unexpected, hinging everything on the volatile emotions of a pair of teens on the precipice of major life changes. A fascinating tension results from how 19-year-old Helena, the eldest, qln_005 must stay at home, while Sebastian, who's still in school, is free to roam and possibly connect with a companion -- even a potentially dangerous character like Juan. Helena stews in the old house (rendered as a perfect place for eavesdropping by Lizette Ponce's ingenious production design) while he plays, and hidden jealousies between the pair explode in the pic's second half, after mom dies and the fate of the house is unsure.
At this point, "Burn the Bridges" taps into a new energy source, ushering in a fresh set of problems involving rich kid Ismael (Ramon Valdes) -- who also has repressed desires for Sebastian -- and young Aurora (Jessica Segura) -- who rents a room in the house.
Though it never pushes its tone toward overt black comedy, pic carries strong reverberations from the earliest and latest films of Marco Bellocchio -- the wild nature of family units, the powerful position held by the youngest male and the urge for freedom in a heavy Catholic atmosphere, all captured with vibrant and brawny cinematic technique.
Franco elicits amazing perfs from his generally young cast, with Azuela and Nevarez vividly capturing teen dizziness, creative impulses and sexual indecisiveness. Benitez, Valdes and Segura keep the film operating on a giddy and highly engaging level.
Lenser Alejandro Giacoman's subdued use of color is just one of the film's subtle strokes. Locations in the lovely northern burg of Zacatecas are highly original and refreshing.

Description:
Valjda zato jer me privlace jaki i muževni muškarci, a zbog moje potrebe da sakrijem svoje homoseksualne nagone najrađe izaberem oženjenog čovjeka!

Koliko rizikuje time?

La Mujer de mi Hermano Aka My Brother's Wife

By PETER DEBRUGE

A Lionsgate release of a Lionsgate, Panamax Films and Stan Jakubowicz presentation of a Shallow Entertainment production. Produced by Jakubowicz. Executive producers, Jakubowicz, James M. McNamara, Benjamin Odell. Co-producer, Jaime Bayly. Directed by Ricardo de Montreuil. Screenplay, Jamie Bayly.

Zoe Edwards - Barbara Mori
Ignacio Edwards - Christian Meier
Gonzalo Edwards - Manolo Cardona
Boris - Bruno Bichir
Cristina - Angelica Aragon
Padre Santiago - Beto Cuevas

If you strip "Unfaithful" of Adrian Lyne's touch or filter Kubrick out of "Eyes Wide Shut," they remain provocative looks at adultery. But, if you deprive desperate-housewife yarn "La mujer de mi hermano" of helmer Ricardo de Montreuil's polished approach, all that remains is a tawdry Telenovela. Soapy melodrama and a small-screen cast undermine the first-time director's efforts to dress up screenwriter Jaime Bayly's adaptation of his novel about a sexually unfulfilled married woman who beds her hubby's brother. Successful South-of-border run suggests Latin interest with limited crossover potential if Lionsgate positions the pic properly.

Although Uruguayan-born beauty Barbara Mori, a Spanish-speaking TV star, could easily cross over to English-language roles, this revealing lead perf does more to showcase the skills that landed her in the January 2004 issue of Maxim than those needed to put her in competition with Salma Hayek or Penelope Cruz.

The way Mori plays it, the title phrase -- which translates to "My Brother's Wife" -- conveys the same off-limits appeal reflected in the word "MILF."

Zoe Edwards (Mori) grows tired of her rich husband Ignacio (Christian Meier) and finds passion in the arms of his spontaneous younger brother Gonzalo (Manolo Cardona).

For at least the first half hour, pic sustains the illusion of artistic ambitions thanks to an elegant opening-credits sequence in which fallen leaves and doomed insects float adrift on water. Those images correspond to Ignacio's routine of cleaning his designer swimming pool, going out of his way to rescue a drowning beetle.

The pool provides a symbol (so does the impressive modern "glass house") as de Montreuil tries to bring class to a story destined to drown in its own suds.

Viewers needn't wait long for the hanky panky to commence: Things are already tense between brothers Ignacio and Gonzalo, while Zoe resents that her disinterested husband can't have children. There's little to suggest why Zoe and Ignacio are together in the first place, much less how they have lasted for nearly 10 years of marriage.

She is, as her gay best friend Boris (Bruno Bichir) suggests, far too beautiful to be ignored.

This daytime-TV-caliber setup favors shallow titillation over deeper psychology. The lovers are perpetually on the brink of discovery, but it's Zoe's inevitable pregnancy that thrusts everything out in the open.

For a modest South American melodrama, "La mujer de mi hermano" manages to tackle everything from adultery to incest to abortion and homosexuality, spanning roughly a year in the lives of its characters in 89 overcrowded minutes. A mesmerizing score from Angelo Milli ("Secuestro Express") and polished cinematography by d.p. Andres E. Sanchez (who also lensed de Montreuil's award-winning short "Amiga") give Zoe's marriage an almost chlorinated feel, but heat up when Gonzalo is around.

David (2005)

Stariji posjetielji ovog bloga se možda sjećaju Meksičkog filma Broken Sky (El Cielo Dividido) iz 2006, godine Režiser tog filma Julián Hernández uz producenta Roberta Fiesca godinu dana ranije producirao jedan kratki film od 15-tak minuta pod nazivom David. Broken Sky (El Cielo Dividido) 2006

Dva studenta Gerardo and Jonás započinju strastvenu ljubavnu vezu i uživaju u njoj sve dok Gerardo ne postane opsjednut drugim momkom, Sergiom.

English:

Broken Sky works like a silent film. There is a soundtrack, but roughly, only 2 pages of character-to-character dialogue over it's entire 140 minutes. Director Julian Hernandez turns that into an opportunity to fill the screen with sensual imagery and camera movements that emote louder than words. Watching Broken Sky is a reminder to the eyes, and an argument for why you should avoid bathroom breaks.

In 2003 Julian Hernandez made his first feature, a student film, A Thousand Clouds of Peace. I don't remember it or Broken Sky getting any theater runs outside of New York. So big thanks are due to Strand Releasing for putting both out on crisp DVD (it makes up for Strand's release of the homophobic, self-hating Two Drifters last year).

Beyond anything else, Broken Sky is a love story between Gerardo and Jonas. Hernandez extends the time they share by filming in long shots and tracking shots. Some of the tracking shots only move 6 feet, but it's essential in locking in on the eternity of the moment. The rooms and hallways and streets of Broken Sky are of the modern world, but Hernandez makes us feel like we're in la-la land, walking around with tunnel-of-love vision.

But as the title suggests, Broken Sky isn't just a love story, it's a lovesick story too. Post-breakup, the camera moves in, especially on Gerardo. The freckled skin on his back once looked like that of a marble statue, but in grief, it stretches a bit and wears the age of a pock-marked old man.

More than twice, a scene is as simple as a hand on a shoulder (this made me think of the finale in M where a man puts his hand on Peter Lorre's shoulder in a sign of compassion). With two bodies and their eyes, these actors say more silent than a monologue in the rain by Ben Affleck. Props to Julian Hernandez for saying so much with so little and making the viewer feel every moment of it.

Fresa y chocolate (1994) aka Strawberry and Chocolate

Fresa y chocolate (1994) aka Strawberry and Chocolate

Strawberry and Chocolate (Spanish: Fresa y Chocolate) is a Cuban-Spanish-Mexican co-produced film, directed by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea and Juan Carlos Tabío, based on the short story "The Wolf, The Forest and the New Man" (in Spanish, El Lobo, el bosque y el hombre nuevo) written by Senel Paz in 1990. Senel Paz also wrote the screenplay for the film.

Synopsis

The story takes place in Havana, Cuba, 1979. David (Vladimir Cruz) is a University student who meets Diego (Jorge Perugorría), an artist who is apolitical and homosexual. David's heterosexual classmate, Miguel, encourages the friendship, thinking David can then spy on a person they see as aberrant and dangerous to the communist cause, while Diego initiates the friendship with sexual intentions. Reviewer Roger Ebert comments that "nothing unfolds as we expect. Strawberry and Chocolate is not a movie about the seduction of a body, but about the seduction of a mind. It is more interested in politics than sex — unless you count sexual politics, since to be homosexual in Cuba is to make an anti-authoritarian statement whether you intend it or not."

The title refers to a comment by David that he knew immediately that Diego was gay when he chose strawberry ice cream even though chocolate was available.
