Ovaj kratki film o tinejdžeru koji sanja o mornaru koji luta morem prateći zvjezde  i svetionike kako bi se vratio kući me je podsjetio ne nekadašnja moja sanjarenja kada bih kao klinac noću ležao na taraci i gledao u zvjezde. Znao sam sva sazvježđa, imena zvijezda i priče o njima. Nekako sam ih uvjek povezivao sa mojom omiljenom knjigom Mali Princ, a najupečatljivija priča mi je bila ona o zvjezdi na kojoj je bio samo jedan svjetionik sa svjetioničarem. Tamo negdje daleko je bio završetak mog dalekog putovanja. Nije još završio pa vam ne znam reći tačno gdje je to.

This is a candy colored, stunningly photographed wordless romance between a young man living in Belgium and a Dutch sailor or 'matroos'. The man in Belgium is played by Joram Schurmans, who is called Joram Roodhooft. The sailor is played by Tom de With, who uses his own name for the role. Some have compared the look of the film to the work of the French photographers Pierre et Gilles, and there is a lot of that hot house atmosphere and those saturated colors here, but the look of the film, I would say, is more like the initial, nonsexual scenes in a Tom of Finland comic book--stalwart, stunningly handsome young naifs in a clean-lined 1950s world. A lot of the scenes are clearly filmed against a green screen or a back projection. And other scenes are clearly in beautiful sets. It is beautiful and theatrical, like a more delicate version of 'Querelle'. The boys kiss on the beach, two stunningly handsome young men. As the sailor travels to exotic climes, such as Ecuador, they send to one another an erotically suggestive tropical flower, and then, over and over, the same chocolate bar. In the end, when they feel they must go their separate ways, drifting apart and fearful of the world in which they live, the scenes take place very much in the real world, at a dock and its attendant sheds. Yet the look of the film--the colors and the grain of the film stock, look like authentic 1950s documentary footage--real yet artificial, still beautiful.

Priče iz Turske se uglavnom uklapaju u našu balkansku zbilju barem kada je u  pitanju odnos društva prema gay ljudima.
Ibrahim / Bram potiče iz jedne turske porodice koja živi i radi u Belgiji. Več po rođenju mu je određeno ko će mu biti žena i kako će živjeti.
Naravno da ne postoje običaju koji tako nešto mogu predvijeti. Bram se radije odlučuje da živi sa mladim momkom Kevinom!
Pogledajte ovaj film uz neko nedeljno poslijepodne, zanimljiv je.

Kevin me je posdjetio na jednog momka koji je stalno maštao da ga oženim i da sretno živimo do kraja života u nekoj bajci. Na moju nesreću ja sam mu bio prvi muškarac pa kad mu je guza stradala, zaljubio se i nije mi dao mira. Neko vrijeme dok mi je prijala njegova neukost i nedostatak životnog iskustva  sam se smijao svemu tome, ali kasnije mi je počela smetati njegovo otvoreno pokazivanje ljubavi čak i pred prijateljima.
Objasnio sam mu da je između njega i mene prevelika razlika u godinama i da ja nisam ono o čemu on mašta. Znate onu priču zaslužuješ ti nekog boljeg od mene, ja sam perverznjak koji kad kod mu se pruži prilika završi u krevet sa prvim tipom koji mu se svidi i da ću ga imati na umu kada budem organizovao trojke ili orgije.
Nesretnik se toliko razočarao da je poslije toga našao djevojku i rekao mi da nikad više neće biti sa muškarcem. Na moje iznenađenje oženio se i dobio djete. Ljetos sam ga vidio kako puši nekom liku na plaži i pozdravio ga u prolazu! Bez srama izmedju dva "gutljaja" mi je otpozdravio!

A closeted Antwerp man's juggling of his tradition-minded Turkish family's expectations and a best friend-turned-boyfriend propel "Mixed Kebab." Belgian writer-helmer Guy Lee Thys' film recalls "My Beautiful Laundrette" in its busy agenda of seriocomic culture-clashing issues, even if the authorial wit here isn't quite as sharp. Risking over-contrivance at times, the whole is nonetheless crowd-pleasing stuff that stands to do particularly well at gay fests, where it should pick up steam toward healthy offshore home-format and possible limited theatrical sales.

Starting things off a little too on-the-nose, the pic's protag (Cem Akkanat) introduces himself via voiceover: "I'm Ibrahim, I'm Turkish. I'm Bram, I'm Belgian. I am a Muslim … and I'm gay." Fortunately, things get less glib fast as we learn more about his world. He's smitten with blond, blue-eyed Kevin (Simon Van Buyten), who works at a cafe run by his open-minded mother, Marina (Karlijn Sileghem). Though normally a slick pickup artist, Bram (who deals cocaine as a sideline to his job with an upscale caterer) is unsure of Kevin's sexual leanings.

At home, however, Bram is Ibrahim, exemplary eldest son to emigre parents (Ergun Simsek, Tanja Cnaepkens) proud to have resisted liberal Western ways more firmly than many back home in Turkey. The thorn in their side is Ibrahim's younger sib, Furkan (Lukas De Wolf), an angry teen who's turning into a little thug, skipping school and committing robberies with equally rudderless pals. Wise to his brother's hidden life, Furkan outs Ibrahim to take the heat off himself, but the family simply doesn't believe him.

That leaves Bram free to invite Kevin along when he goes to Turkey -- a trip intended to confirm his arranged-marriage plans with educated cousin Elif (Gamze Tazim), though that becomes a mere obligatory aside to the two men's joyful consummation of mutual attraction. Their cavorting doesn't go unnoticed, or unphotographed, by a hotel porter (Hakan Gurkan) whom not-so-chaste Elif has been fooling around with. Presented with evidence, she proves too hellbent on moving West to be swayed from Plan A. But those photos will wreak havoc yet.

Mix of comedy, romance, intrigue and religious/cultural tensions is smoothly handled for the most part, even if the pic's increasing seriousness feels a little lopsided, particularly when a late instance of turnabout violence prompts all-around reconciliations a mite too conveniently. Nonetheless, "Mixed Kebab" enjoyably balances numerous themes and plot strands with brisk skill, presenting the gay relationship in an upfront manner without ever turning into a solely niche-aud-focused item. Ensemble cast, location choices, and tech/design contributions are all lively and spot-on.

Kampvuur - Campfire(1999) Kratki film o skautima ( izviđačima) na kampovanju u kojem se lijepi TIJL, zaljubljuje u najboljeg druga Wouta.

Nakon jedne prelijepe noći provedene u šatoru, Woutovo ponašanje se potpuno mijenja i njegov odnos prema Tijlu nije više kao prije.

Campfire is basically a coming out story, but essentially it summarizes many itches of love and relations. Settings, sound, music are all economically used, but without being minimal and boring. Cinematography is brilliant, and so is acting. All in this is a short but not small, powerful but not cliché film. Simply beautiful.

Pim je 15-godišnji dječak koji odrasta uz nemarnu majku, izgubljenu u moru životnih neuspjeha koje je sama kreirala u malom graću na belgijskoj hladnoj obali.
Svoje snove izražava crtajući na komadima papira i skupljajući predmete koji karakterišu događaje koje želi da zapamti.

Njegovi snovi postaju djelimično stvarnost kroz druženje sa dvije godine starijim Ginom, dječakom iz susjedstva sa kojim kroz malo riječi dijeli svoje skrivene emocije. Zajedničke vožnje na motoru, spavanje u šatoru na pješčanoj plaži, prvi poljubac i prva seksualna iskustva ih vežu u nešto više od običnog drugarstva, a Ginova majka i sestra Pima smatraju djelom svoje porodice.
Problem nastaje kada Gino nađe djevojku, a Pima počne da razdire ljubomora.

Lijepa priča koja će kod mnogih gledalaca probuditi sjećanje na djetinjstvo i prve ljubavi koje se definitivno nikada ne zaboravljaju.

Film me je podsjetio na jednog rođaka sa kojim sam se družio na tavanu njegove kuče učeći me kako da se ljubi, ali i ono što ide uz sve to. Odrastemo i kroz naše živote prođu neki drugi ljudi koje izljubimo, ostavimo ili budemo ostavljeni ali svako ima neki tavan kojeg se rado sjeća.
Ovo je film koji svakako vrijedi pogledati.

Bavo Defurne’s debut feature is a beautifully measured coming-of-age drama based on André Sollie’s novel, This Is Everlasting. He built up an international reputation with his highly stylised shorts such as Campfire and Particularly Now, In Spring.

Pim lives in a small town on the Belgian coast, together with his single mother Yvette, a local accordion starlet. It’s an ordinary existence which Pim brightens up by dreaming of princesses, beauty queens and handsome Gino, the boy next door. But when hunky traveller Zoltan blows through town, Pim’s life takes an exciting and unexpected turn.
Influenced by filmmakers such as Carl Dreyer and Eisenstein as well as photographers such as Herbert List and Pierre et Gilles, North Sea Texas celebrates the heartache of first love.

Koliko ste puta naišli na nekog oženjenog muškarca? Ta tema već postaje pomalo otrcana jer na balkanu je brak nešto što se podrazujeva za odraslo ljudsko biće, pa i za gay i bisex ljude.
Ovaj kratki film nam pokazuje kako to izgleda ga neko ko je sebi stvorio porodicu "naleti" na posesivnog pedera.

In 2008 Roland co-wrote the short “Fairplay” (Dutch title: Blessure) by Johan Vancauwenbergh. The short was Johan’s graduation project. The leads were played by Janne Desmet ( Louise-Louise, Acht), Tom De Hoog ( David, Sara, Wittekerke) and Steven Boen ( Ella, Vermist).
Marie and Steven are a young and happy couple… although so it appears. When Tom, the much younger friend who plays in the same soccer team as Steven, returns a forgotten sports bag, he tells Marie that Steven isn’t showing up for practice anymore.
