The Day Laborers - aka: Los Jornaleros (2003)

The Day Laborers - aka: Los Jornaleros (2003)

Film opisuje muke Meksičkih imigranata u Americi.

Three Mexican cousins illegally cross the U.S. border and try to make a living as day laborers in Los Angeles. The pressures their new living situation brings threatens to tear them apart.
Quick review: One of the storylines gets a little melodramatic, butthis film has a lot of heart. It demonstrates the plight of immigrants struggling for a living in an honest manner. Tura, Pillo and Quique cross the border and find shelter with a relative livingin Los Angeles. They begin looking for work like many others, standing in a specific spot hoping someone needs a day laborer and will stop by to pick them up. Each of the three then has his own storyline. Two of the three look for an easier life, one in the armsof a married woman and the other through drugs. The third meets a gay art dealer who seems a little too interested in him. The drug storyline is the one that gets a little too melodramatic, and you always know that in the end the family will pull together. The gay angle is secondary in this film, but overall it's a good film and anyone interested in immigrant issues will enjoy it.
